Old School Becomes New School

Another week, another winner, this week’s champion is David Toms. This week the PGA Tour was at Colonial Country Club for the Crowne Plaza. David Toms certainly displayed a show of extraordinary golf shots, from dozens of fairways hit to wedge shots landing inches to the hole. After coming off a good week at the PLAYERS, David Toms  had substantial momentum to deliver some great golf. After back-to-back 62s, Toms obtained a demanding lead over the field, resulting in added pressure for those falling behind. Sunday would be a battle of the old gun, Charlie Wi, versus the older gun, David Toms, which provide for some good television. Wi had to birdie the 72nd hole of the golf tournament to force a playoff, falling shot, Toms would win with a one stroke lead at 15-under par. Wi added to the hype of the mid age golfers comeback, firing multiple rounds in the 60s.The defending champion Zach  Johnson quietly ascended to the top of the leader with a final round 65, Johnson was  my fellow blogger’s pick of the week, allowing him to receive a much needed point. Great play from Chez Reavie finishing at 8-under par with a charming 62 on Monday, two rounds in the 70s hindered him from contending on Sunday, but overall great play from  Reavie. Overall this was a great event with many big names in the field, hats off to David Toms.
