A Very Swede Victory

Following a big time rout by Rory McIlroy in last week's United States Open, the PGA TOUR was looking for a little more drama this week at the Traveler's Championship. In the end, Sweden's very own Fredrik Jacobson held on to a 1 shot lead, in what was a shootout week at 20 under par. He held of the likes of Ryan Moore and rising amateur star Patrick Cantlay to collect his first TOUR victory. Jacobson is an amazing putter, and he's knocked on the door so many times on this TOUR that it was a matter of when, not if, in terms of notching that first win. This week, he accomplished that. Now he can look forward to playing the British Open and can possibly be considered a dark horse for that major.

Another golfing story on the day was that of the battle between two fellow Spaniards: Sergio Garcia and Pablo Larrazabal in the BMW International Open in Germany. Pablo defeated Garcia after the 5th sudden death hole which included many high quality shots from both of them. With them finishing 1-2, they are now both officially qualified for the upcoming British Open and may both contend as well.
